This 4 Day Mgahinga gorilla Trekking and Mount Sabinyo hiking Safari in Uganda will take you to Mgahinga gorilla national park.  This park is found at the stream borders of Uganda and Rwanda and Uganda and DR Congo. It is the smallest park in Uganda but with a lot of adventurous activities to make you busy throughout your safari such as; Mountain gorilla tracking, it encompasses three inactive volcanoes, namely; Mount Sabinyo, Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhabura, that are one of the best hiking mountains in Uganda, It is also a home to well habituated groups of golden monkeys and the only park where you can find mountain gorillas coexisting with golden monkeys and also the best home to the Batwa people highly known as “Keepers of the forests”. So, gorilla trekking and Mount Sabinyo will be your major activities during your 4 days safari to Mgahinga gorilla national park.

Day 1; Pick up from Entebbe International Airport/ Any hotel around Kampala – Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park.

On your arrival at Entebbe International airport or after your morning breakfast first at your hotel, you will be met by our company representative and your driver guide for a short briefing about your 4 days Mgahinga gorilla trekking and Mountain Sabinyo hiking safari and later start your road drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park that is found in the southwestern Uganda across the equator imaginary line. This drive will be made up of several en-route stops to encounter other exciting things like the Equator point to take some memorial photos and to watch the water experiment which elaborates the movement of forces on both northern and southern hemispheres which will make your drive so interesting. You will also have another en-route stop to have refreshments, lunch and afterwards drive straight to check in at your booked lodge. This journey will take you through areas with great views of the lovely landscape, terraced farmlands and Kigezi hills which are popularly known as the Switzerland of Africa. Dinner and an overnight

Day 2; Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mountain Gorilla trekking

Today after your early morning breakfast, meet your driver guide and transfer to the park meeting point for your morning pre-trekking briefing about the guidelines and regulations during gorilla trekking and this will be done by your UWA ranger guide. Later begin your guided forest walk to search for the mountain gorillas under the guidance of your UWA ranger guide. During your gorilla trekking walk, you may encounter other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, bush pigs, golden monkeys, many bird species and other mammal and your guide will be able to provide information about anything that you will encounter and which will make your walk so adventurous and interesting. The time taken while looking for mountain gorillas is not known; however, it is expected to be between 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you meet them, you will have a maximum of one hour to spend with them and this will enable you to know much about their behaviors, and watching them carrying out their daily activities like feeding, young ones playing and hunting for their survival. So, during this time you have to keep your camera on standby such that you do not miss out any moment with mountain gorillas un captured to keep memories.  After the one hour of encountering mountain gorilla, return to the starting point to pick your tracking certificate, have your refreshments and then return to your lodge to have full lunch and spend your evening relaxing. Dinner and an overnight

Day 3; Mgahinga gorilla national park – Mount Sabinyo hiking to the top summit

After your heavy morning breakfast, meet your driver guide and transfer to the park meeting point to meet other guests and your UWA ranger guide for briefing about your day activity. Then start your Mount Sabinyo hiking trip which takes approximately 8 hours depending on your fitness and spend so, you will have to carry packed lunch, snacks and enough water. The hike will take you through variety of vegetation covers such as sub-alpine zone, bamboo zone, sharp ridges and you many meet many different mammals such as forest elephants, bush pigs, golden monkeys, buffaloes and by chance you may meet mountain gorillas but these might not be habituated and many bird species like blue headed coucal, archers robin chat, white necked raven, olive woodpecker etc. When you reach at the summit, you will enjoy the greatest view of Mgahinga gorilla national park, beautiful scenery and landscapes also you will be standing in three countries Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo at the same time. After enjoying all these beautiful views, and taking enough photos then descending back to the starting point which might take about 4 hours. Upon your arrival at your starting point, meet your driver guide and return to your lodge to relax, dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Return to Entebbe international airport

On this day have, have your morning breakfast and check out to embark on your return drive to Entebbe international airport to meet your return flight. On your return way, you will have an en-route at Igongo cultural center to for refreshments and to tour around the museum. This is the best place to get firsthand information about Ankole kingdom and other surrounding kingdoms, later continue with your drive with another en-route stop to have lunch and to buy souvenirs then continue with your journey to reach Entebbe international airport for your return flight.
