5 Day Mountain gorilla habituation and trekking experience

This 5 Day Mountain gorilla habituation and trekking experience safari to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park in Uganda is made to give you double experience of mountain gorillas both when they are still entirely wild and after they have been habituated to be tracked by tourists and research. Mountain Gorilla habituation is the process where Wild Mountain gorillas are made to get used to people and it may take between 2 to 3 years to be completed. Therefore, during mountain gorilla habituation, you spend more time while with mountain gorillas

Day 1; Pickup from Entebbe international airport – Drive to Kampala City

On your arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative and safari driver guide then transfer you to Kampala city to check in at you reserved hotel for briefing about your mountain gorilla habituation and tracking safari and to relax. Later, if time permits, your driver guide will take you to Twekobe Kabaka’s palace & Amin torture chambers, visit Old Kampala mosque and the Uganda national museum. Dinner and an overnight.

Day 2; Leave Kampala City – Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After your early morning breakfast, meet your driver guide at the reception to begin your drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park the best destination for mountain gorilla experience in Uganda and Africa. Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is said to be harboring half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population. This drive will take you to south western Uganda with an en-route at the Kayabwe Equator cross point to take some memorial photos and then continue with your drive through the Ankole region with their incredible long horned cattle before reaching the park, have another stop for lunch at Mbarara city later, proceed to make it to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park to check in at your reserved lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park – Mountain gorilla habituation

After your early morning breakfast, your driver guide will drive you to the Park briefing center to get guidelines, registration and joining others and later start your mountain gorilla habituation walk through impenetrable forest with your UWA ranger guides to help you find the mountain Gorillas. This forest walk is incredibly interesting and expect to encounter numerous wildlife species besides mountain gorillas such as 9 other primate species including rare l’Hoest monkey, vervet, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, many different bird species and many others. Once you meet mountain gorillas, you spend 4 hours of following them and observing how they make them getting used to the presence people and you will be allowed to take as many photos as you would want. After the 4 hours are done, return to the information center to rest, enjoy your refreshments and pick your habituation certificate later return to your lodge to relax. Dinner and an overnight

DAY 4; Bwindi impenetrable Forest national park – Morning Mountain Gorilla Tracking – Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up very early in the morning to enjoy your breakfast and then drive to the park head office for the pre-tracking guidelines on how to behave during mountain gorilla tracking and then set off for another experience to watch how the well habituated mountain gorillas behave compared to those in the process of habituation and indeed you will have an interesting long story to tell those that have never done mountain gorilla habituation and tracking at once. Also during mountain gorilla tracking, there are higher chances to meet other wildlife species and your ranger guide will be able to provide information about anything that you will see making your walk so interesting. Looking in the eyes of the giant mountain gorillas is the most wildlife breathtaking experience! Therefore, you will have a full hour of watching them as your guide gives you all information about them and you will also be allowed to take as many photos as you would want of the Mountain Gorillas. Later, return to the park head office to pick your certificate, have lunch and refreshments and drive to Lake Bunyonyi to relax while canoeing and bird watching. Dinner and an overnight

Day 5; Lake Bunyonyi – Return to Kampala city / Entebbe international airport

Take your morning breakfast and check out to embark on your return road drive to Kampala / Entebbe international airport with your lunch en‐route at Igongo Cultural Center. Thereafter drive straight to Kampala city to residence or drop off at Entebbe international airport to end your 5 Day Mountain gorilla habituation and trekking experience
