Night game drives in Ugandan National Parks: Night game drives in Uganda is an exciting and adventurous activities in Uganda where travelers get an opportunity to experience the grassland of national park in Uganda at night with a professional and armed tour guide with spotlight torches for clear viewing of wildlife primates. Uganda is composed of 10 national parks that offers different activities to travelers who visit them, but out of the 10 national parks only 3 national parks offers night game drives activities that is lake Mburo national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, And Murchison falls national park.

Night game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park: Queen Elizabeth national park is a protected savannah area and the second largest national park in Uganda after Murchison falls national park and its one of the famous and top destination in Uganda that offers an interest game drives activities. Queen Elizabeth national park is located in western region of Uganda in Kasese district at a distance approximately 420 kilometers from Kampala with a drive of about 6-7 hours using road transport via Kampala- kasese using fort port route or Mbarara route to get to the park. Queen Elizabeth national park is a rich wide range of unique wild life primates and the park is also famously known for sheltering the tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector, The park is also home of other different wild life animals like leopards, chimpanzees, water bucks, red tailed monkeys, hippos, elephants, Uganda kobs, giant forest hogs and the park is home of different bird species like shoebill, pink-backed pelican, palm-nut vulture, great blue turaco among others.

Night game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park is only done in great mweya peninsula since kasenyi plains receives high number of visitors during day. The night game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park starts at 19:00pm led by an UWA armed game ranger guide who helps you to spot different nocturnal wildlife animals especially animals from cat family like leopards, lions, hyenas, bush babies, mongoose among others. These animals always usually hunt at night which makes it easy to spot them at night.

Night game drive in lake Mburo national park: Lake Mbuo national park is the smallest savannah grassland national park in Uganda located in western part of Uganda in Mbarara district covering 470 kilometers. The park is near masaka-mbarara highway that makes it so easy to be reachable from Kampala which takes of about 4-5 hours drive to reach the park. Lake Mburo national park is famously known as home to largest population of Zebra in Uganda with an estimated number of about 5000 and it also contains the highest concentration of leopards in Uganda. The park is also a home of different wild life animals like white tailed, mongoose, bush pigs, Aardvark, porcupine, buffalos, hyenas, giraffes, black antelope among other and different bird species like grey  crowned crested crane, black tern, common scimitar bill, headed barbet, long tailed cisticola, white tailed pelican and so many more. Night game drives in Lake Mburo national park starts at 18:30pm led by park ranger with spotlight torches for clear viewing of nocturnal animals that are usually can’t be seen during day game drive among these include white tailed mongoose, bush pigs, black galago, honey badger, side-stripped jackal etc.

Night game drives in Murchison falls national park: Murchison falls national park is the largest national park in Uganda famously known for the might Murchison falls and it is divided in two section the southern and the northern section which are mainly dominated by savannah grassland and green forested area. The park is located in north-western Uganda spreading inland from the shores of Karuma falls, Victoria Nile and lake Albert. The park is known for sheltering various wild life species like elephants, lions, buffalos, oribis, Uganda kobs and different primates like chimpanzees, olive baboons, colobus monkeys, and it also harbors different bird species like grey crowned crane, Abyssinian ground hornbill, shoebill among others. Night game drive in Murchison falls is mainly done in the north section of the park because it harbors the highest concertation of animals. Night game drive in Murchison falls always start at 19:00pm and it is led by the park ranger with spotlight torches for clear viewing of various wildlife animals like lions, hippos feeding, night jar, leopards, bush babies among other animals.

Cost of night game drives in Uganda National Parks

The government of Uganda under UWA decided the price to be paid for a night game drive in Uganda were who is foreign resident is supposed to pay 20 USD per person, 30 USD for  foreign non residents and 50,000 UGX per person from east African community when using a private vehicle a night game drive but while when using an UWA vehicles it cost 40 USD per person for foreign nonresidents, 35 USD per person for foreign residents and 100,000 UGX for person for east African community.
