Queen Elizabeth is a home to over 600 bird species.  Bird watching is carried out in Maramagambo Forest plus other areas like, Mweya Peninsula, Kazinga Channel, Kasenyi Area, and Lake Kikorongo and among others.  Some of bird species one can see on birding safari in Queen Elizabeth national park are; the African Skimmer, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Papyrus Gonolek Black Bee-eater, Martial Eagle, Black-rumped Buttonquail, White-winged Warbler, Corncrake, Shoebill, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, Pink-backed Pelican, Chapin’s Flycatcher, White-tailed Lark, and many Other.

Game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park is done in Kasenyi sector, Mweya sector and Ishasha sector which gives you a chance to see animals such as buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, lions, elephants,  plus several bird species like the yellow throated long crow, grey crowned crane and many more. The most recommended time for game drives are morning game drive and late evening.

When to do nature walks in Maramagambo forest.

Maramagambo forest can be visited throughout the year, but the best time to visit forest is during the dry season which is from December-February and June to early September when trails are less muddy and slippery which make the experience excellent. While visiting the forest in wet season of March- May and November is not good as the trails are too slippery and muddy and all roads are impassable, this makes the activities difficult. Also some safari lodges and camps during wet season are used to close because of unfavorable conditions. However, you have to come when you’re well prepared by bringing a hiking boots, a rain jacket and among others as African weather is not unpredictable, at any time it may rainy even if it is dry season.

Apart from, Maramagambo forest, there are many forests with amazing experience, unique species and many tourist attractions such as Bwindi forest national park where you will get a chance to see the few remaining mountain gorillas in the world.
