3 Day Serengeti Fly-in Safari
Our 3 day Serengeti Fly-in Safari provides the ultimate safari experience, with flights from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam. The Serengeti wildebeest migration is the great and worldwide movement of animals that happens annually across the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem. The Serengeti National Park also features other interesting wildlife species, which would make it an important destination to visit even without the wildebeest migration.
This 3 day Serengeti Fly-in Safari can begin in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, or Zanzibar, and it can be extended from three to five days if you wish to visit other national parks in northern Tanzania, such as the Lake Manyara Biological Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Tarangire National Park. The safari will also include the flight from Serengeti to Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, via Arusha, to Kilimanjaro International Airport on the last day of this safari. The lodging option will be the nice middle-range tented camps found in central Serengeti, but we have all categories of lodges based on your request.
3 Day Serengeti Fly-in Safari highlights
Day 1: Arrival in Serengeti National Park
Day 2: Full-day safari in Serengeti National Park.
Day 3: Fly from the Serengeti to Arusha and then back to Zanzibar.
Day 1: Arrival in Serengeti National Park
You will be at the Zanzibar airport in the morning at around 7 am and then take a flight to Serengeti at around 8 am, arriving at Serengeti National Park at around 11 am. Our Africa Adventure Vacation Guide will meet you at the Seronera airstrip, give you all the details concerning your safari, greet you, and then start your game drives in the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park. A packed lunch will be offered, which can be consumed at the Seronera visitor’s center or out in the wilderness while watching the animals. The Serengeti National Park, with its infinite undulating plain, is arguably the world’s most famous wildlife reserve. Its ecosystem is one of the world’s oldest, and the rich grassland and water attract a diverse range of fauna. From here, the annual international event of the Wildebeest Migration takes place. Wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles migrate in and out of the Serengeti, crossing the Mara River to the Masai Mara in Kenya. Predators and birds of prey are also part of the Great Migration, as they help to shape the population so that it does not exceed its carrying capacity. If the wildebeest migration is packed into the Serengeti on this day of your 3-day Serengeti safari, you will follow it. You can expect to see exciting animal behaviors such as feeding, fighting, hunting, and occasionally killing. Herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, elephants, hippos, and a variety of antelopes can all be seen. Serengeti National Park is home to a variety of predators, including lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and the elusive leopard. Numerous bird species, including ostriches, secretary birds, herons, crane crowns, and others, can be found in the Serengeti. For dinner and at night, drive to your camp before or during twilight.
Overnight at Thorn Tree Camp in the central Serengeti with meals provided on a full board basis.
Day 2: Full-day safari in Serengeti National Park.
Leave the camp as early as 06:30 a.m. for dawn game, with a loaded breakfast and lunch box in your safari vehicle. Early morning game drives may allow you to spot some feline family members out and about as they try to avoid the morning fog. You might also observe other hunters coming from a long night of hunting, or the pride of lionesses setting up a morning trap or feasting on the street. Later, stop for breakfast somewhere in the brambles before continuing on with the game drive until noon, when lunch can be served at the Seronera outing location. After a brief break for lunch and a rest, you might choose to pay a visit to the Seronera Guest Center before continuing your midday game drive. Overnight at Thorn Tree Camp in the central Serengeti with meals provided on a full board basis.
Day 3: Fly from the Serengeti to Arusha and then back to Zanzibar.
After breakfast, drive to Arusha with an en-route wildlife drive; optionally, visit a Masai hamlet along the way. The journey takes you via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority and the Great East African Rift Valley. Arrive late afternoon in Arusha for an overnight stay (on your own) or drop off at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for departure. If traveling on the same day, KLM may be the best alternative, as it departs JRO at 21:30 and this marks the end of our 3 day Serengeti Fly-in Safari.
