Day 1: Pick up from Airport or any hotel in Kampala or Kigali – Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

On your arrival at either Entebbe or Kigali airport or after breakfast at your hotel safari driver guide will be waiting for you for meet and greet, briefing about your safari and then embark on your driver to Mgahinga gorilla national park in the southwestern Uganda in the Virunga Volcanoes where it is based. On your way to Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will go through magnificent views of the Volcanoes, good sceneries and Kigazi terraced hills which are proudly referred to as the Switzerland of Africa.

Day 2; Mgahinga gorilla national park – Golden Monkey Trekking

Today after your breakfast, you will leave your lodge and transfer to the park information for briefing about golden monkey tracking and what you should expect during golden monkey tracking. Later begin your guided forest walk to search for the beautiful golden monkeys. During golden monkey tracking, you may meet other wildlife species such as many bird species, black and white colombus monkeys, and bush pigs and by chance you might meet mountain gorillas but these may not be habituated and your guide will give you information about everything that you will encounter during your walk while looking for golden monkey tracking. These beautiful monkeys are normally found in the bamboo forest of Mgahinga gorilla national park. The time taken while looking for golden monkeys is not known, however, is estimated to between 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the movements of the family that is allocated to you. Once you meet encounter them, you will have a maximum of 1 hour watching them, following their moves, asking questions about them and taking as many photos as you would want. After return to your lodge to have lunch and to spend your evening relaxing, dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Mgahinga gorilla national park – Batwa culture Trail experience

After having your morning breakfast, leave your lodge and go the park where the Batwa culture trail experience begins. The Batwa trail experience will take you to visit the Batwa pygmy people proudly known as “the forest keepers” who used to leave in Mgahinga and Bwindi forest but when all of these forests were gazette as national parks, they evicted out of the forest and given land outside forests such that they do not conflict with wildlife conservation mostly for mountain gorillas. Although they were evicted out of the forest reserves, they established a trail to showcase their life style as Bushmen therefore, this trail will make you encounter various aspects of the Batwa pygmy people like ways building their shelters using only local materials, ways of producing fire locally, how they treat themselves using herbal medicine and demonstration of hunting skills. You will be amazed to know how these people survive without the use of modern technology and at the end you will discover the problems these people go through without living their forest life. After interacting with the Batwa pygmy people, return to your lodge to relax, dinner and an overnight.

Day 4; Mgahinga gorilla national park – return to Entebbe or Kigali airport
