The premier Ol Kinyei in Masai Mara National Reserve Ol Kinyei Conservancy: This is the one of the pioneers of all conservancies in the Masai Mara National Reserve region. It is believed that the Ol Kinyei started as the pilot study survey in the local communities which even tool all together the various tourism stakeholders
Being survey study, it was started in 2005 and it started small as the model conservancy and as the year passed, the size of the Ol Kenyei had increased and doubled and even the landlords and the local community members have now increased to over 171 and also the Porini safari campus and our four stakeholders are also among the stakeholders.
The Ol Kinyei conservancy is found in the North Eastern Masai Mara National Reserve adjacent Naibosho conservancy in the western directions, and the Siana on its eastern direction.
It sits on 18,641 acres of land and it has been on several occasions declared as the winners of the best conservancy in Kenya. Since it was community led and it involved sensitization of the local community people on the importance of tourism and conservation in general.
Visitors interested in exploring the Ol Kinyei Conservancy around Masai Mara National Reserve will be able to engage most in the guided nature walk safaris, and then doing the cultural encounters as they visit to the areas or communities of the Masai people who are doing in their traditional norms and their culture has remained unique despite of the rapid modernization and globalization that has hit the world of recent times.
Ol Kinyei Conservancy has got over 20 lions and other species of the wildlife animals and these include the leopards, antelopes, wildebeest and cheetahs among others.
