One of the most interesting things about the Nyakagezi mountain gorilla family is that the old silverback Bugingo still lives in the group which is not a usual case among mountain gorillas because once another silverback takes over leadership then the defeated one is banished to the forest alone or seeks refuge from other gorilla families.

There are only 8 permits available for those who want to trek the Nyakagezi gorilla family on a single day.
