
Busingye Gorilla Group
The Busingye gorilla group / family can be trekked from Rushaga sector of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, the group was formed in august 2012 when the silverback Busingye challenged another silverback in Kahungye mountain gorilla family to start up his own family.
Busingye gorilla family is comprised of 9 members and these are 1 silverback, 5 black backs, and 3 infants. The group was named after the silverback Busingye a Kinyarwanda word to mean peace, although the name Busingye means peace, he is always found of fighting other mountain gorillas from other groups in order to grab some members and add them to his own gorilla family at all costs and also fights to protect his family from other wild gorillas. Kahungye gorilla family
Kahungye gorilla family was opened up for trekking in 2011 and it is one of the mountain gorillas families in Rushaga sector found in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Kahungye derives its name from Kahungye hills in Bwindi national park where the gorilla family was first sighted by trekkers and the family had a total of 27 members at the time of habituation but later split when Busingye broke off to start his own gorilla family known as Busingye gorilla family.
Bweza gorilla family
Bweza gorilla family is a splinter of the famous Nshongi mountain gorilla family that was the largest habituated gorilla family in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park before Mishaya moved away with some of the group members to form his own gorilla family and Bweza also followed after two years taking away some individuals to form his own gorilla family.
Mishaya gorilla family
Mishaya gorilla family was formed when silverback Mishaya broke away from Nshongi mountain gorilla family to begin his own gorilla family, silverback Mishaya was known to be very ambitious and always fighting other mountain gorilla families in order to grab some members to add to his own family. Mishaya was once injured by a non-habituated gorilla family silverback when he attempted to grab some individuals from that family. Mishaya was found dead one morning and the cause of his death was unclear. Mwine succeeded Mishaya and now dominates the family.
Gorilla permits for Busingye Gorilla Group
Mountain gorilla trekking permits can be obtained from Uganda wildlife authority or through a trusted tour operator, a Ugandan gorilla permit costs $700 for foreign nonresidents, $600 foreign residents, and shs250,000 East African citizens if you want to trek Busingye gorilla family. Although gorilla habituation permits are a bit expensive costing $1500 the reward is worth it as you get to spend more time with mountain gorillas unlike when doing gorilla trekking. People under the ages of 15 and those with communicable diseases such as flu, cough, and diarrhea will not be allowed to trek.
