The Bisanandi National Reserve presents the wildlife dispersal for various areas, especially the Meru National Park, and it covers other areas such as the Meru, Kora, and Mwingi, making up the Bisanandi conservation area. At times, the Bisanandi National Reserve is called the Kinna national reserve, covering 609 square kilometers under the management of the Kenya Wildlife Society. The Reserve is surrounded by the Meru National Park and it forms the historical border between the Boranm people and the Meru. It has been in existence since 1979.

Where is Bisanandi National Reserve located?

On the outskirts of Meru National Park is Bisanandi National Reserve. The historic separation between the Meru and Boran tribes is known as the “Kinna” boundary between Meru and Bisanadi Parks. The Bisanandi National Reserve was established in September 1979 and covers 606 square kilometers. The reserves in Kenya can only be accessed by 4WD vehicles because it is a pure wilderness region with no accommodations.

The Bisanadi National Reserve is part of the Eastern Region. Regrettably, the reserve does not offer any lodging options. However, people can camp in the park. Alternatively, guests can stay at places like Leopard Rock Safari Lodge, Leopard Rock Lodge, and Rhino River Camp, among others, in Meru’s adjacent town.

What is the best time to go to Bisanadi National Reserve?

Because Bisanadi National Reserve is in a remote location, it may be visited at any time of year. However, the drier months of June to October and December to March are ideal for enjoying the reserve’s activities. A safari to Bisanadi can be extended to other travel destinations such as Masai Mara, Chania waterfalls, Amboseli among others.
