4 Days Tanzania safari
This 4 Day Safari Tanzania takes you to the top wildlife parks in the Northern Tanzania Safari circuit, closer to Arusha. Starting and ending in Arusha, our Tembo Safari takes you to Tarangire National Park, the best park to see African elephants, with herds of up to 200 elephants and even more in one herd. The safari also includes visits to Lake Manyara National Park, a small lovely lush green park noted for its legendary tree-climbing lions, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater, which is sometimes referred to as Africa’s Eden.
The distances traveled in this safari are relatively short and manageable, and it is a good package to take, particularly during the months of August through October, when the Wildebeest Migration herds have crossed over to Kenya’s Masai Mara. Given the small distances covered, this safari is ideal for families with younger children and newborns. The safari is an excellent opportunity for families to spend time together, and we can always tailor the tour to include all child-friendly lodges in all parks, whether standard luxury or mid-range lodging.
Day 1. From Arusha to Lake Manyara.
After being picked up from your Arusha accommodation to start your 4 Day Tanzania safari, you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park for game drives. You will have a picnic lunch at one of the park’s many picnic areas and then continue with wildlife drives until late afternoon, when you will return to your lodge. Overnight at Karatu Country Lodge or a comparable lodge. Lunch and dinner are included.
Day 2. Explore the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and register at the Lodurae Gate before driving to the Crater Rim for a short session at the View Point. After photographing the Crater Bottom and admiring the breathtaking vistas below, you descend to the crater floor 2000 feet below for wildlife drives. On a lucky day, you may be able to view the Big 5 here. The big five are rhinoceroses, lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes. Zebras, topis, elands, hartebeests, hyenas, cheetahs, silverback jackals, and other creatures can be spotted at the Crater. Later in the day, return to the Crater Rim and spend the night at Country Lodge. All meals are provided.
Day 3. Wildlife sightings
After breakfast, you depart early for Tarangire National Park. This is Tanzania’s third largest park, and it is known for its enormous elephant herds. The Baobab trees are another attraction of Tarangire, and the Tarangire River, which flows all year, is the park’s lifeblood. Many animals, both predators and prey, congregate near the river, providing superb game viewing opportunities. Overnight at Sangaiwe Tented Resort or a luxury lodge if desired (at extra cost).
Day 4. Explore Tarangire National Park and later drive back to Arusha
Early morning wildlife drives (if desired) at Tarangire, followed by a return to the lodge. After breakfast, you will depart the park, stopping for game drives along the way, and return to Arusha, where your safari will conclude.
