Day 1. From Arusha to Tarangire National Park
This morning, on the first day of your four-day camping safari, you will be picked up from your hotel (pick up point) in Arusha, and after a brief stop at the supermarket to purchase any provisions and personal effects, you will depart on a four-wheel-drive safari land cruiser for Tarangire National Park, which is famous for its large herds of elephants and massive baobab trees. As you cross the Masai Steppe, you will be able to appreciate the breathtaking scenery and sights of Maasai settlements along the road. After a 2-hour trip, you’ll arrive at the Park’s entrance, where you’ll make a brief stop for paperwork.
Following registration at the Park’s Gate, you will immediately go on your first game drives in quest of the numerous wildlife that Tarangire has to offer. The Tarangire River, a permanent river in the park, is the lifeline for the park’s wildlife, which includes zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, gerenuks, olive baboons, water bucks, and big cats such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Tarangire is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 550 bird species documented, including uncommon species such as Ashy starlings. After lunch at one of the picnic places, the afternoon will be spent taking game drives around the park, and later in the afternoon you will drive out for overnight at a public campsite surrounding the park, or drive to Mto wa Mbu area (near Lake Manyara) for camping at a campsite like Lilac Campsite. Lunch and dinner are included. Depending on your preferences and the season, you could visit Lake Manyara National Park instead of Tarangire.
Day 2. Morning tarangire National Park and drive to Serengeti National Park
After a delicious breakfast at your campsite made by your professional trained safari cook, you will drive to the Serengeti National Park from Tarangire. On your approach to the Serengeti, you will pass via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and have the option of visiting a Masai boma (village) within the Ngorongoro Crater if you so desire (at extra cost). By midday, you will be at Naabi Hill Gate, where you will have your picnic lunch and possibly take a walk around to stretch your legs before entering the Serengeti and beginning your first game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Depending on the time of year, you may be lucky enough to encounter wildebeest migratory herds, but expect to see a lot more resident creatures. Prides of lions, leopards, cheetahs, topis, hartebeests, zebras, elephants, gazelles, impalas, warthogs, and many more creatures and birds can be seen in the Serengeti. Later, after twilight, you’ll check into a campsite and pitch your tent for dinner and an overnight stay. Overnight in Seronera’s public campsite. All meals are provided.
Day 3. Depart Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Here, you may go on an early morning game drive at sunrise (if desired), then pack your belongings and go on a game drive in the Serengeti National Park after a full breakfast served by your capable chef. You will be traveling towards the Naabi Hill Gate with a packed lunch that you will most likely have at the Gate before going up to the Ngorongoro Crater rim. When you arrive at your campground later in the afternoon, you can relax while your chef and guide pitch your tents. Dinner and sleep at the Simba Campsite, which overlooks the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. All meals are provided.
Day 4. Ngorongoro Crater safari- drive back to Arusha
This morning, you will descend very early into the Crater level to enable enough time for wildlife drives on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ngorongoro Crater, often known as the 8th Wonder of the World or the Eden of Africa, is a unique wildlife region due to its 600-meter walls that create a natural (zoo-like) cage for thousands of creatures, making it the world’s biggest concentration of animals in a single location. The Crater walls operate as a barrier, preventing thousands of species from escaping, most notably the Big Five, who thrive in this area and include Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, and Black Rhinos. Safari is over. If you are still in Arusha, we can always organize your hotel, or for a little fee, we can offer you a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport if you are leaving this evening.
