3 Days Lake Bunyonyi Uganda Safari

3 Days Lake Bunyonyi Uganda Safari will take you to Lake Bunyonyi  found in the South Western part of Uganda near to Uganda and Rwandan border. It is the Uganda’s deepest lake and second deepest in Africa after Lake Tanganyika with a depth between 44m and 900m, a width of 7km and 25km long and on height of approximately 1962meters above sea level. It got its name from the many small birds that are around “Bunyonyi” means place of many little birds. It is popularly known for its moderate temperatures and fresh waters that tested bilharzia free so it is safe for swimming.  It is made of 29 breathtaking island and each island has an exciting story about it such as Akampene Island.

Day 1; Pick up from Kampala / Entebbe airport – Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

After having your heavy breakfast, leave Kampala capital city and drive to southwestern Uganda to explore Lake Bunyonyi. On your way, you will have an en-route stop at Kayabwe equator landmark for watch water experiment and take memorial photos then proceed with your drive to have another stop at Mbarara city to have lunch and later head to Lake Bunyonyi. On your arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, check in at your reserved lodge, have a short break and then go for your evening bird watching and boat canoeing where you will also participate in paddling with help of your local guide. Dinner and an overnight

Day 2; Lake Bunyonyi – Morning boat cruising – Community walk

Rise up early in the morning to enjoy your breakfast and then go for your Uganda safari morning boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi to explore several islands on Lake Bunyonyi and to know their interesting story behind each Island such as the Akampene (Punishment Island) where the Kiga tribe used to take their girls who would be found pregnant before marriage and abandon them there to death to teach lesson to others not to do the same mistake until they get married and many other islands where you meet indigenous people and narrate to you different stories about their islands and also you will encounter many different bird species and your guide will en light more about them. Return to your lodge to have refreshments, lunch, relax and then go for your evening community walk. This will give an opportunity to know about a place and the people living around the lake such as the Batwa pygmy people who are the original inhabitants of the country from the Stone Age era and their stories are so interesting. Visiting local communities, it help to improve their standards of living. Dinner and an overnights

Day 3; Lake Bunyonyi – Morning nature walk – Return to Kampala or Entebbe international airport

After having breakfast, go for an early morning guided nature walk that will give you a remarkable serene view of different areas of Kigezi highlands on this Uganda safari tour. After your nature walk, leave Lake Bunyonyi and embark on your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe international airport to meet your return flight. On your way, you will have a stop at Kayabwe to have lunch, buy some souvenirs and then continue with your drive to your residence/Hotel in Kampala or at Entebbe international airport to meet your return flight.
