Kasubi Tombs

The Kasubi Tombs are situated about 5 kilometers from Kampala city center along Kampala – Hoima road in Lubaga north on Kasubi Hill. The place is the burial grounds for four of the late Kabakas these are Mutesa I 1856 – 1884, Mutesa II 1939 – 1966, Chwa Daudi 1899 – 1939, and Mwanga 1884 – 1897 and other members of the Baganda royal family which makes it an important mystical site for the Ganda people and an important example of traditional architecture. Gaddafi Mosque

Gaddafi National Mosque (Old Kampala Mosque) is found on the Old Kampala area (Old Kampala Hill) that was completed in 2006 with capacity of accommodating up to 15,000 worshipers and can hold another 1,100 in the gallery. It was funded by the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya as a gift to the Ugandan Moslems population. It is one of the biggest Masjid houses in Africa and the biggest in the East African region. Kabaka’s Palace (Twekobe Palace)

Lubiri Palace / Mengo Palace is the royal compound of the Kabaka of Buganda (king of Buganda) situated on the Mengo hill and the official residence of the ruling king in Buganda Kingdom. This is the supernatural place where most of cultural rites on the Royal Drums are carried out before a new king is declared king of the Buganda Kingdom. This is the Twekobe palace is where the birth of a royal prince or princess of the Royal Drums are sounded by drummers to inform the entire Kingdom about the new specially selected from a specified clan as a means of informing the subjects of the kingdom of the birth member in the royal family and the same Royal Drums are sounded upon the death of a reigning king and other members of the royal family to make an official announcement to the Kingdom members. In the culture of Buganda kingdom, the king does not die rather he rests behind the rid. The Twekobe Kabaka palace was built in 1885 by the late King Danieri Mwanga II Mukasa who was the 31st Kabaka of Buganda situated on 4 square miles (10 km2).

The Amin Torture Chambers

The Amin torture chambers found in the Twekobe Kabaka’s palace of the King of Buganda kingdom that was built by President Idi Amin Dada as a prison to punish his political rivals and it is said, that whenever you are taken to that prison, you would not serve death. So, many were butchered from this place as a punishment of not supporting Amin’s grievous dictatorship presidency. President Idi Amin Dada was considered one of the Africa’s worst dictator during his presidency time. When you visit the Amin torture chambers, your local site guide will narrate to you how people used to be tortured inside Amin torture chambers.

The Kabaka’s Lake

The Kabaka’s lake was made from 1885-1888 in the city Serbs of Ndeeba 5 km from the Kampala city center and it is the biggest manmade lake in the country without of any modern machine but mere hand tools. It was made under the orders of king Mwanga of Buganda Kingdom and his mission was to make it connecting to the Lake Victoria and as his private relaxing and sport fishing ground.

The Namirembe Anglican Cathedral

The Namirembe Saint Paul’s Cathedral that is situated on Namirembe hill and is one of the oldest cathedral in Uganda for Anglicans.
