The Serengeti Great wildebeest Migration in August

The Serengeti Great wildebeest Migration in August

The Serengeti Great wildebeest Migration in August

August is an exciting month for visitors who are interested in seeing the Great wildebeest migration on Serengeti national park Tanzania. The month of August is a fantastic month where the herds of the wildebeest migration can be seen in the northern part of the Serengeti National Park between the Lamai and the Kogatende region. The months represent the peak months where visitors can see the wildebeest migration at its best. Although some of the wildlife can arrive at the river late, they will still come and cross the wildebeest crossing, and they will finally land within the Kogatende. Thus, if you are clear and you are living in the northern part and around the Masai Mara throughout August up to October, you will be able to see these wonderful animals as they stay around this great area for this great experience, making it a very interesting and wonderful safari, making the Serengeti National Park so much more interesting. In all parts of the month, whether in the middle, early or late, you will be able to have wonderful encounters with the wildebeest migration. This wildebeest crossing happens daily, and thus, if you miss the morning time, you can see it in the evening time. Thus, it is up to you when you decide to go and enjoy these wonderful safaris, which are so very interesting. You will be very lucky as well to see the wildebeest struggling with the predators, especially the Nile crocodiles, which are found in the Mara River. Some of the wildebeest can also be seen hesitating to cross the river and keep grazing along the river bank until they gather enough momentum to cross this wonderful river.

Is August the right month to see the great Serengeti wildebeest migration?

I can say that August is the best month for you to see the wildebeest migration in Serengeti National Park. This is the peak season where you will be able to see the great migration crossing the Mara River. Usually, in the early hours of August, when the wildebeest reach the northern region, one can see them crossing as they cross the Mara River. Furthermore, in July, the first crossing is always an explosion as some of the wildebeest can be seen falling left of the center as they move and rub shoulders with each other before they jump into the Masai Mara River. The problem with visiting during this great safari is that August is the popular month and most of the visitors tend to flock here, hence making it hard for the visitors to benefit from several lodges when they give discounts during the wet season. If you could go in September, for example, you would avoid a large number of vehicles. Having said that, even during peak season, the Serengeti is far calmer than the Masai Mara stream junctions (as the Mara River slices through both).

Where to stay around August to have the highest chances of seeing the wildebeest migration?

In August, the major focus of the wildebeest migration is in the Kogatende and the Lamai regions, all found in the northern part of the Serengeti National Park. This area presents visitors with the chance to see the wildebeest migration during August, which is very interesting. Most of the herd move to the Masai Mara and both conservation areas become much busier because of this great work and service. From the time they arrive at the Mara River until they return south, the migration is primarily in Kogatende and Lamai; however, stream intersections do occur on occasion in Masai Mara during this time.It isn’t required for their course. Taking everything into account, we’d head to the northern Serengeti rather than the Masai Mara to find the intersections. Lamai will be a little quieter than Kogatende in general, although both are fantastic, and there is a little more convenience on the southern side of the Mara River in Kogatende.

The mobile camps where you can stay in the northern Serengeti (Kogatende/Lamai) for July safaris

Chaka is available at 607 per person per day. This is one of the great and very comfortable safari accommodation options. This safari tent offers visitors the entire overall experience, and you will stay at this safari tent at an affordable cost.

Kimondo is found in the Lamai Wedge and it is available at USD 986 per person per night. It is beneficial for visitors in the northern part of the country, and it is available at a reasonable price.

At Olakira, which is available at USD 1,070 per person per night, Asilia’s normally lavish multipurpose camp isn’t quite as stunning as Serengeti Under Canvas, although it isn’t a less advantageous option because it doesn’t come with such a high sticker price. However, it is far from modest.

Alex Walker’s Serian is available at USD 1,110 per person per night. This is luxurious cuisine, administration, and tents, but with a truly exceptional safari flair and safari-frantic atmosphere. A significant benefit of Serian is that your fee includes a private vehicle and guide for the duration of your stay.

Serengeti Under Canvas, which is available at USD 1,240 per person per night, is the premium option if you are looking at staying under canvas in a tented camp but also love luxury accommodation.

Permanent camps to stay in the northern part of the Serengeti during August safaris.

Sayari is available at USD1376 per person per night. This is the luxury safari lodge under canvas. It features a permanent wood base structure, and it provides the visitors with an experience completely different from the mobile tents. There is a lounge fitted with comfortable sofas, and also a great, lovely pool where you can chill out as you engage in the game drive safaris. This lodge is situated near the Mara River, and this makes it a wonderful place where you can stay to see the herds grazing.

The Nomad Lamai Serengeti is available at USD1315 per person per night; this is one of the best and excellent lodging facilities that can be found in the northern Serengeti National Park, offering perfect and excellent accommodation facilities. It is used by the visitors who do visit the Serengeti National Park from July to October, especially those who are interested in seeing the wildebeest migration. The rooms are wood in kopjes with clear sweeping views of the Serengeti plains. Lam provides the best and most wonderful chance for visitors to enjoy the best barefoot luxury safaris, and this happens without any authenticity.

Therefore, as the masses of the wildebeest arrive at the Mara River, they will more often than not congregate in the middle of Kogatende and the Lamai Wedge, thus the Serengeti is the place to be if you want to be in with the best chance of getting an intersection. Only a portion of the tourists eventually make their way into Kenya’s Masai Mara from July to October. August is most likely the best month to visit an intersection because the masses will have descended on the region by mid-August. These can be delicate! In any event, it is a busy time for vehicles, so to avoid it, we recommend visiting during the shoulder seasons of October and November.
