Serengeti National Park is a world UNESCO heritage site

Serengeti National Park is the biggest national park in Tanzania and the park is mostly visited by the majority of the people; both international and domestic visitors; and among the world’s UNESCO heritage site. Serengeti national park is found in the northern part of Tanzania in the Northern circuit with other national parks such as the Tarangire national park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park among others.

Serengeti National Park was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1981 and it produces several ecosystems with various vegetation zones of grass, kopjes, which are outcrops that are around among the acacia woodlands and this is so much interesting. The park was recognized as a world heritage site because of the various species of wildlife including the birds that are endemic to this national park. The bird species that can only be found here include the fishers love birds, the grey crested helmet shrike, rufous tailed weavers, Usambiro barbet among others. All in all, the park features more than 450 species of birds which you will be able to see once you have dedicated your time as the birder in Serengeti National Park

Furthermore, the Serengeti National Park is well-known for the annual wildebeest migration, which takes place on the park’s various endless plains. There are more than 1.5 million wildebeest that are joined by other animals such as zebras, gazelles, and predators, which then join the movement that has become the highlight of this particular safari, and this makes the safari so much more interesting.

The park forms part of the Mara eco-region and its ecosystem also includes the Ngorongoro conservation area, which is also identified as a UNESCO heritage site. and also the great protection that is found in northern Tanzania. The Ngorongoro is bounded by the Masai pastoral people as well as the Masai pastoralists. This is a common misunderstanding.

Despite being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti National Park is also one of the best tourist attractions in Tanzania and is home to the big five animals, which, among others, include elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions, and rhinos. It has been proven that the Serengeti National Park has got the highest concentration of predators with more than 3000 lions and over 250 cheetahs, accompanied by more than 7500 hyenas. The Serengeti Ecosystem also includes various species that are found in the Mawa Game Reserve, Grumeti Game Reserve, and Ikororngo Game Reserve, which also stretch up to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Serengeti National Park has a huge size and is divided into different sections, one being the central Serengeti region, which is normally called the Seronera, and the other being the Serengeti western region, which is famous for the Grumeti River, which offers wonderful views during the wildebeest crossing in Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti National Park features the dotted plains that are found with scattered trees where some of the animals can be seen within those trees. The park features the natural wonders of the world with various rivers, including the Grumeti River, which is traced in the western part of the Serengeti National Park. Other rivers, such as the Seronera River, can be found in the central part of the Serengeti National Park.

Without the wildebeest migration, Serengeti National Park also features other great wildlife species, and these, among others, include the guided nature walks, the bird watching safaris, and the hot air balloon safaris. This is so much fun. The hot air balloon safari offers aerial views of the park with different wildlife species that can very much be spotted in different locations of the Serengeti National Park.

Visitors can still see the wildlife animals through the safari game drives, which can be done early in the morning or late in the evening. Another option is to participate in guided nature walks or bird watching safaris, which are best done between November and April, when migrant species can be seen within the park.

To access Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site found in the northern circuit of Tanzania, one can either use domestic flights or road transport. The park is surrounded by different airstrips, including the Lobo airstrip, Kusini airstrip, Fort Ikoma airstrip, Seronera airstrip, among others.

Driving is another option for getting to Serengeti National Park from Arusha, and it takes roughly 7 to 8 hours of driving while enjoying views of the beautiful countryside near Karatu with espresso manors and stopping along the way in towns like Karatu. Visit Serengeti National Park and take part in an investigation of the world’s oldest national park while on safari, paying special attention to various untamed life species.

Domestic flights to Serengeti National Park are available from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha International Airport and are offered by a variety of companies. Visitors are met by guides at the airstrips around Serengeti public park, and a few cabins in the park also provide pick-up and are located just a short drive from the airstrips.
