Masai Mara National Reserve Rules and regulations- The rules and regulations of Masai Mara National Reserve are in form of instruction or dos and don’ts that every tourist who enters Masai Mara National Reserve must observe and follow until he or she finishes his or her activities in Masai Mara National Reserve.

The rules and regulation of Masai Mara National Reserve were framed by the Trans-Mara Council in collaboration with the Narok council all of which are involved in the management of the Masai Mara National Reserve

  • The most important rule is that all the visitors within Masai Mara National Reserve must not do what is called off-tracking. This means that while in the park you should keep driving from the established roads within the Masai Mara National Reserve and this is done in order to save the environment and biodiversity within the park.
  • While in Masai Mara National Reserve, visitors don’t need to make noise or hooting by the cars. What you need to do is to remain salient and make sure that you use only your eyes and cameras or the phone to take photos. This is done in order not to scare away the animals or sometimes make other animals get the charge against you. While in the wild, animals should also enjoy clearly their freedom. The noise as well disrupts the animal’s activities as well as their breeding systems.
  • Another important rule is that while you’re in Masai Mara National Reserve, you should make sure that your phone is in silence and if it cannot be in silence then it’s better you switch it off.   • Tourists in Masai Mara National Reserve are not totally allowed to feed or drink the wild animals. In case you do that, then you will be fined and then chases away the magical Masai Mara National Reserve.
  • You should as well make so much respect to nature and avoid the habits such as calling on the animals, climbing hands, and all any other related kind of play games while in Masai Mara National Reserve which might affect the wild animals’ activities.
  • Visitors within the Masai Mara National Reserve area not allowed to collect any sample of the specimen outside the reserve maybe if you’re doing it for research peruses and you have been cleared by the authorities to do it.
  • Visitors must observe the 100 meters rules distance between them and the wildlife. This means that visitors’ are not allowed to be close to the animals in with wild.
  • It is as well illegal to enter the Masai Mara National Reserve without paying the stipulated Reserve entrance fees. This means that no one is allowed to enter the Reserve without paying the Masai Mara National Reserve fees.
  • Smoking is also not allowed during the safari game drives and it should be done within the safari camps or within the designated areas and not within the public.
  • While in Masai Mara National Reserve, visitors are not allowed to move outside their safari cars n and in case you want to move out out the scars that must be during the walking safaris must be escorted by the armed park ranger.
  • Littering within the Masai Mara National Reserve is not accepted since the Masai Mara National Reserve must be kept clean within an environment. While moving within the Masai Mara National Reserve, there are some designated areas that have dustbins where you can put litter without littering it around.
  • Therefore all visitors who are interested in visiting and explore Masai Mara National Reserve must observe these rules and regulations as this will help them to enjoy the best wildlife and leave the Masai Mara National Reserve to serve the future generation. In case you fail to observe the above rules and regulations then you’re liable to fines which can be charged with money or expulsions from the National Park. You can be penalized with 10,000 Kenyan shillings or banned from the Masai Mara National Reserve with immediate effect.

Other penalties here include the following:

Visitors who do off-tracking or off-road driving are fined Kenyan shillings 10,000, littering inside the Masai Mara National Reserve, you will be charged with 500 Kenyan shillings, Noise, animal harassment, and car hooting in Masai Mara National Reserve, you will be fined Kenyan shillings 10,000 while those in the position of Invalid pack ticket are fined Kenyan shillings 3000 per person and those found of defaulting paying the Masai Mara National Reserve entrance fees are charged with Kenyan shillings 2000.

Visitors will have to pay all the above penalties at the Masai Mara National Reserve office before exiting the reserve. And once you have paid, you will be able to get the penalty payment slip and in case you fail to raise the penalty, then you will never access the Masai Mara National Reserve.
