Lemek conservancy land was originally occupied and owned by the local people of the Masai before the Koyaiki Group Ranch took over and later the Lemek Conservancy and this somehow somewhere brought in some managerial challenges that affected the conservancy.
Another challenge is the conflicting challenges of balancing the local community needs and then the desire to protect the wild animals especially those that face a lot of threats from the encroachment dome by the adjacent local community members.
