It was established to help to improve the standards of living of the local people near Buhoma sector so, a percentage of the funds collected from accommodation is used to do based community projects such as building hospital, school and other community-developing projects. Therefore, if you book to stay in this facility, you will be helping to improve lives of many people and contributing to the development of the community. It’s being very close to the forest / park meeting point, it makes occasional visits from gorillas inevitable.
Buhoma community rest Camp has 6 well fitted safari tents which are self-contained with an outstanding view looking over the forest, 3 self-contained cottages, 2 non-self-contained twin cottage Bandas and 6-bed dormitory as well as several campsite. The camp facilities are dominantly designed in a traditional African style using African and local raw materials which are eco-friendly and giving the camp a unique African architectural outlook. Buhoma community rest camp own a well-maintained camping ground lying close to Bwindi forest. Camping at Buhoma community rest camp you can carry your own tent or hire from them. There is a daily campfire and you can enjoy great performances from local music, dance and drama groups. Therefore, a passionate naturalist can camp here to enjoy the great outdoors.

From Ruhondeza Lodge & Camp Site you can visit the Batwa (pygmy) village, arrange for a forest walk to the waterfall, birding tour. The campsite has a café serving both local and international cuisines with professional staff who are willing to serve, Toilets with water flush and there are hot water showers.
