Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is a UNESCO world heritage site with 20 habituated gorilla families and also offers a unique gorilla habituation experience with Bushaho and Bikingi gorilla families in the Rushahga sector of the park.

The Bwindi impenetrable forest has the highest concentration of primates in the whole world with 13 species so far recorded, 12o species of mammals, 220 butterfly species, and 400 species of trees.

You can track the mountain gorillas in any of Bwindi’s four sectors namely, the Buhoma sector which is the oldest and still receives highest number of visitors. Mubare gorilla family, rushegura gorilla family, katwe gorilla family, muyambi gorilla family, and habinyaja gorilla family

Rushaga sector has Bweza group, the Busingye group, Mishaya group, Nshongi group, and Kahungye group habituated in 2011, among others.

Ruhija sector includes Bitukuru group, Oruzogo group, mukiza group, and kyaguriro group.

Nkuringo sector which has Nkuringo group, bikingi group, and bushaho group. You can also take part in Gorilla habituation in the Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors with two groups set aside for your full-day experience.

Best time to visit Bwindi.

Uganda has two seasons, the dry season happing in December- February and June to mid-September, then wet season in March to May and October to November.

The best time for visiting Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park as a group is during the dry season, when there is less rainfall, the roads are clear, and the ground is not muddy for Hiking.

The mountain gorillas are always exposed during this period in time as they roam around the park climbing on tree branches in search for what to eat and water.
