The park’s northern portion is blessed with relatively low-lying grasslands and savannah plains, which provide travelers with the excitement of a “traditional” safari, similar to other East African safari vacation locations. The western section of Akagera National Park is distinguished by lush, undulating hills and valleys typical of the Rwandan countryside.

The Akagera River flows into a series of lakes to the east of the Akagera National Park. Akagera National Park contains roughly ten lakes, the most common of which is Lake Ihema, which hosts a variety of boat tour activities. The park’s eastern section also has stunning sights such as marshes and papyrus swamps, which comprise the majority of central and eastern Africa’s largest protected wetlands. As a result, for a relatively large national park, an Akagera safari may be highly diversified, with a diversity of habitats, species, birds, and some beautiful landscapes. It is a park with breathtaking views and attractive locations, as well as a bio-diversity of over 480 bird species. When arranging your safari accommodation, guests visiting or interested in activities in Akagera National Park may want to consider these lodges and hotels.
