Kilimanjaro safari in Tanzania: Safaris to Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro National Park are an exhilarating experience that may be had while on trips in the country’s northern region. The best Kilimanjaro hiking routes

On Mount Kilimanjaro, several different routes can be utilized for trekking, including the Umbwe route, the Marangu route, the Machame route, the Lemosho route, the Rongai route, and the Shira route.

Machama route: The most popular path used for walks up Mount Kilimanjaro is the Machame route, which offers enough opportunity for acclimatization. Along this trail, breathtaking views are another perk. During Kilimanjaro safaris, the hike along the Machame route begins from Machame gate to Machame camp, which takes about 5 to 7 hours. From Machame camp to Shira camp, which takes about 4 to 6 hours; Shira camp to Lava Tower to Barranco camp, which takes about 6 to 8 hours; and from Barranco camp to Karanga camp, which takes about 4 to 5 hours. From Karanga camp to Kilimanjaro safari, Tanzania from Barafu camp to the summit (Uhuru peak), it takes around 7 to 8 hours; from the summit to Mweka camp, it takes about 4 to 6 hours; and finally, it takes 3 to 4 hours to get from Mweka camp to Mweka gate.

Marangu route: Another trail utilized for Mount Kilimanjaro treks is the Marangu route, which is also the mountain’s oldest trail. The only trail that provides hut accommodation during walks, including Mandara hut, Kibo hut, and Horombo hut, is on this route, which is also well-liked and boasts breathtaking vistas. The ascent profile is gentle and steady, and the path is also the simplest on Mount Kilimanjaro. The Marangu route requires 5 or 6 days to complete and includes the following distances and times: From Marangu gate to Mandara hut, 4 to 5 hours; Mandara hut to Horombo hut, 6 to 8 hours; Horombo hut to Kibo hut, 6 to 8 hours; Kibo hut to Uhuru peak, 6 to 8 hours; and from the summit, 4 to 5 hours; Horombo hut to Marangu gate, 5 to 7 hours.

Lemosho route: On Mount Kilimanjaro, there is a highly scenic trail called the Lemosho route that connects to the Machame route. The walk passes through a rainforest where you might see blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and many species of birds. The climb using the Lemosho route lasts 7–8 days and begins with a 3–4 hour trip from Londrossi gate to Mti Mkubwa, an 8–10 hour trip from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 camp, and a 4–6 hour trip from Shira 2 camp to the Lava Tower. It takes 2 to 3 hours to hike from the Lava tower to Barranco camp; 4 to 5 hours to hike from Barranco camp to Karanga camp; 3 to 4 hours to hike from Karanga camp to Barafu camp; 6 to 8 hours to hike from Barafu camp to Uhuru peak; 4 to 6 hours to hike from Barafu camp to Uhuru peak; 4 to 6 hours to hike from Mweka camp to Mweka camp to Mweka gate on the Kili.

The Rongai Route: This is located on the northeastern slope of Mount Kilimanjaro and is shared by Tanzania and Kenya. The hike on this route lasts about 7 days and begins from Rongai gate to Simba camp, which takes about 4 to 5 hours; from Simba camp to the 2nd cave camp, which takes about 3 to 4 hours; from the 2nd cave camp to Kikelewa camp, which takes about 3 to 4 hours; from Kikelewa camp to Mawenzi hut, which takes about 4 hours; from Mawenzi hut to Kibo hut, which takes about 5 to 6. From Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate, which takes 5 to 7 hours, it takes 4 to 5 hours. The Shira route and the Umbwe route are two additional routes used for Mount Kilimanjaro hikes.

Getting to Kilimanjaro Mountain

While on a safari in Tanzania, one can fly or drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park. To travel there, you can reserve flights to the airports in Arusha or Kilimanjaro. The town of Moshi is the closest to Mount Kilimanjaro and is home to many other tourist attractions in Tanzania, including waterfalls. You may also take a tour of Moshi or connect with the people while there. About 80 kilometers separate Arusha town from the park gate, and the trip there can take up to one hour and thirty minutes.
